Boliadi Zamindar House,Gazipur

Boliadi Zamindar House is an ancient old house in Kaliakair Upazila of Gazipur district. This Boliadi estate was established in 1612. At that time the whole Kaliakair was under this estate. The heirs of this zamindar are popularly known as the “Boliadi Siddiqui family”. Chowdhury Tanveer Ahmed Siddiqui is the 37th descendant of the estate and the current zamindar. The owner of the house and his family are currently staying outside the country. A family was employed to look after the Zamindar house.

This zamindar house, about four and a half hundred years old, has a large field in front of it. I saw a small mosque on the side of the field. The name of the mosque is “Boliadi Estate Jame Masjid”. It is the oldest mosque in Gazipur. The mosque was also established in 1612. Next to the mosque is the family tomb of the Siddique family. Next to it is another entrance, “Sadar Daptar” engraved above the gate. I could not see anything inside except a dilapidated house. At present the main gate of the landlord’s house is kept locked. Public access has been banned for several days as it is privately owned. A family lives here to take care of the house. I saw many plants inside the house. You can explore outside even if you are not allowed to enter. The history of the Boliadi Estate is engraved on the walls of the Zamindar’s house.

How to go to Boliadi Zamindar’s house-

Boliadi Zamindar house is located in the Talebabad area of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur district. To come here, you have to come to the Gazipur Chowrasra first. From different places of Dhaka, Balaka, Anabil, Bosumoti, etc. buses go to Gazipur Chowrasta. From Chowrasta, take the Kaliakair bus and get off at the Kaliakair bus stand. Also, you can travel by the Maumita or Thikana bus. These buses directly go to Chandra in Gazipur. From Chandra pick “Kaliakair Paribahan” bus and alight at the Kalikair bus stand. Rickshaw/auto fare from the bus stand to Boliadi Zamindar’s house is 30-40 taka.

Where to eat and stay-

There is no food or lodging hotel near Boliadi Zamindar’s house. You will find a food hotel in the Kaliakair bus stand or the Kaliakair bazaar. If you want to stay overnight, you have to come to Gazipur Chowrasta.

Boliadi Zamindar House Travel Tips and Warnings-

1) You can’t enter this landlord’s house. But you can visit the mosque, graveyard, and surroundings of Boliadi Estate.

2) The ground, mosques, and graveyards area are very clean so do not litter and do not write on the walls.
